IntenseDebate Comment System
You may notice that a couple of days ago the comment system we were using changed. We were having so many Spam comments that we were having to go through and delete them every day. The comment system that we chose is IntenseDebate which is a local Boulder startup. I have briefly met the founder, and a friend of mine from a previous job now works there (shout-out to Michael).
Beyond stopping Spam the new system will allow threaded comments so you can respond directly to a particular person instead of a general comment. It should make discussions within the comments easier. If you actually sign up for IntenseDebate you can do things like receive emails if anyone comments on your comment, and it also has ranking features to show you which comments were popular. For right now, you don’t have to sign up for IntenseDebate to comment on our blog, but it is probably a good idea and will save you some time if you think you will leave a lot of comments, plus you can upload a picture. Try it out, leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Hey Steph, glad to see that you resolved the spam problems and that you solved it locally!

I applaud how technically saavy you are-way above my head. And I seriously applaud your gardening-is that at your house or do you share space? I can't wait to see what you produce. I haven't had a chance to read archives yet but hope there is something about how you started it and the maintenance. Glad we connected! And your little boy is precious!

Hi Carrie-well even though I hated it I did work in software for several years so, hopefully I leaned something
The garden is not our house, it is actually a community garden that a non-profit here runs. We have a townhouse so can't garden here. We will see, we have never really gardened before, just in pots on our balcony, so hopefully we will actually grow some stuff! I'm glad we connected too, i love to find people to talk to about this stuff.

I'm glad you got your spam problem handled! I may have to try this out on my blog – although I haven't had too much of a spam problem yet, I like the option for email notification of follow up comments.

Yes, me too. It was actually very easy to setup also, and it can carry over all of your old comments, which is nice.
