Grand Lake, Colorado

To all of you who have been wondering where we’ve been lately, thanks for the concern, we have just been busy and going through a lot here at home.  After a summer full of traveling we are trying to get adjusted to being back at home and on a schedule.  Here’s what we’ve been dealing with since we got back from Oklahoma a few weeks ago: Jacob was given the chicken pox vaccine and he got a few pox;  we found out he has a milk allergy and have been trying to figure out how to wean him without being able to give him cow’s milk;  he has been working on cutting 4 teeth;  and currently he is fighting me on taking naps and going to bed at a decent time.  This last fight has been taking all of my energy lately but we are working to get it under control and hopefully in the next week or two will have him sleeping in his own crib through the night again, something that hasn’t been happening since we went to Hawaii in May.

Anyhow, we went to Grand Lake last weekend just Jeremy, Jake, Nikko and I, which is just a couple of hours from us through Rocky Mountain National Park here in Colorado.  We love living here where we are so close to so much beauty that nature has to offer and try to take advantage of it when we can.  For me, being outside and seeing the world is a huge motivating factor in becoming green, even if it sounds a little corny.  I wanted to share a few pictures from our trip.  If you don’t live here and happen to visit the Denver / Boulder area it is worth a drive up to Estes Park to see it and Rocky Mountain National Park.   When we were on Trail Ridge Road, which is the highest highway in the U.S. before we crossed the continental divide we saw a huge herd of elk (at least I think that’s what they were, maybe my sister Angie can help me identify?  :-) Thanks Angie) at one of the highest points.  Here’s a picture:

After passing through Rocky Mountain National Park, you come out on the other side at Grand Lake.  Grand Lake is the largest natural body of water in Colorado. It was formed by a glacier and is surrounded by mountains.  Here are a few pictures we took of Grand Lake:

Hope to be back in the swing of blogging more regularly soon!

Oh man, poor Jake, and even poorer you guys! Min and I can sympathize though – Leah's got all kinds of crap going on seemingly all the time! The pics are beautiful – I really miss nature living in the city. We need to start getting out into nature more on the weekends.

Oh cool! I looked at the list of animals that are in Rocky Mountain National Park and that is what i thought they were. They were really pretty and they were on both sides of the road like that.

We actually didn't ever get in the water. I brought Jake's bathing suit because they have a teeny little beach there but it was cool and rainy both days we were there so i'm sure the water was pretty chilly!

I'm sure you can! Babies always seem to be having some issue. I'm sure it's hard for you guys to get out into nature there, how far of a drive do you have before you are out of the city?

To really get out of the city, we probably have to drive at least an hour and half. Lame! Hopefully when we buy a house it'll be much closer to nature!

I just read about a sustainable living fair in September in Fort Collins – sounds pretty cool. Are you guys thinking about going? http://www.sustainablelivingassociation.org/
