Stop Junk Mail

Yesterday when I was exploring Eco-Cycle’s website, I came across some tips they had for stopping junk mail. I hate going to my mailbox and immediately throwing what I get into recycling, it seems like such a waste. They have some websites I thought I would share that you can register on, to stop receiving junk mail.
• You can go to the Direct Marketing Association’s website and put your name on a do not mail list. You have to list each person that is receiving junk mail at your address to get rid of all of it.
• You can end unwanted credit card and insurance solicitations by going to the Consumer Credit Reporting Industry’s website and again entering the name of each person receiving the offers.
• You can also get rid of unwanted catalogs by going to the Catalog Choice website sponsored by the Ecology Center in Berkeley, CA. You can choose which catalogs you no longer want to receive.
Yesterday I registered on the first two websites, but have not had a chance to activate the account and everything that is needed to get rid of my unwanted catalogs. Eco-cycle had some other more involved ways to eliminate mail and telephone books, etc. For the full list click here.
