Garden Plot

Our garden plot at Kerr Community Gardens, Louisville, CO
Jeremy and I decided after joining the CSA last year and growing a few things out on our balcony that we wanted an actual garden this year. We are lucky because there is a non-profit in Boulder, Growing Gardens, that rents garden plots to people in the area, and they have gardens in Louisville about a mile from our house. We weren’t sure we’d be able to get one because of the demand but last Monday we found out we got a 20′x20′ plot and we are really excited!
We jumped the gun a little and bought seeds before we found out if we were getting the plot, and are growing a bunch of stuff that we love but did not get much of in our CSA. So far the list includes: tomatoes, peppers, onions, turnips, brussel sprouts, carrots, cauliflower, beans, okra, basil, lettuce, and leeks. Neither of us have ever gardened before unless you include our tomato plants on the porch that we grew last year, so it should be interesting! As the season progresses we will update you on our progress.

That is SO cool! I want to garden in a big way, but am waiting til we buy a house… maybe we will share a garden in CO one day.

That is really awesome - I’m jealous! But hopefully in a year or so we’ll buy a house and then be able to do some gardening. In the meantime we’re growing our own lettuce using our Aerogarden - ha ha! (but it’s not a joke, we really do own the aerogarden because Min loves gardening). http://www.aerogrow.com/aerogardens/aerogarden-classic.php

Catherine - We can definitely share a garden when you move here
Erin - I wonder if there are any garden plots in NYC that you can rent? Ours makes you put in a drip irrigation system so we won’t have to go over and water all the time! I do wish we had a yard we could just use because i’m sure it is going to be much more of an ordeal to take care of the garden even though it’s only a mile away! The Aerogarden thing looks awesome, do you actually get a lot of lettuce from it?
