Stephanie, Jake and Jeremy

Becoming Green follows Stephanie, Jeremy and Jacob Dillingham as we try to become a little bit greener as a family. Our journey started after Stephanie’s book club read Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver and we decided to start buying produce from a local farm through the summer. Then Jacob was born in July and becoming green took on a whole new importance for us. We not only want to protect the world Jacob will grow up in, but also protect our family’s health.

In August of 2009, Jacob was diagnosed with multiple food allergies including milk, egg, fish, shellfish, peanuts and tree nuts. In October of 2009, Stephanie was diagnosed with celiac disease. Our food issues are forcing us to be even more careful of what we eat, and reinforcing our beliefs in eating local, unprocessed and real food. We hope to share seasonal recipes for others afflicted by food allergies and gluten intolerance or celiac disease. Follow us in our journey as we learn and share our knowledge in living a greener life.
