I’m Stephanie Dillingham, welcome to Becoming Green! In 2009, my son Jacob was diagnosed with dairy, egg, peanut, and tree nut allergies. Then, a month later I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Eliminating all of these foods at once while trying to feed a picky toddler seemed nearly impossible and finding information on how to go about it was difficult.

I originally started this blog before these new food restrictions, after reading Animal, Vegetable, Miracle by Barbara Kingsolver. This book inspired our family to begin eating more local, unprocessed, real food and to become more environmentally aware. With our new food restrictions we have been pushed even further in this direction: we’ve taken up gardening, and cook most things from scratch or nearly so.

In this blog, I hope to share family friendly meal ideas, recipes, and advice for others afflicted by food allergies and celiac disease. I also hope to emphasize eating seasonal, and local food when possible to make healthy, but still kid friendly meals (even for those without food issues!)
